BOY SCOUTS DESERVED BETTER THAN DONALD TRUMP...AND SO DO ALL AMERICANS

     With an audience that he labeled "incredible," "record-setting" and "massive" - sixty percent of which were prepubescent and adolescent boys who were attending the Boy Scouts of America National Jamboree in West Virginia - Donald Trump turned a very special and time-honored event in to an atrocity.

     Instead of using this traditional occasion as an opportunity for the President of the United States to express the importance of good citizenship...of responsibility... of helping others who are less fortunate...and to encourage youngsters to study hard in school and to always try to do their best...Trump lacked dignity and humility in a shameful presentation.  Trump's motivation for his speech - on Monday, July 24th, 2017 - should have been one that promoted altruism and philanthropy...not evil backstabbing.

     Donald Trump destroyed a magic time that Boy Scouts have cherished for eighty years...a visit to their Jamboree by our nation's President.  But should we have really expected this heartless narcissist to appear as a distinguished role model for Scouts to respect?  Obviously no.  After all...according to a recent Associated Press/NORC Center for Public Affairs Research poll, 65 percent - or just about two-thirds - of the country's adults feel that Trump doesn't have much respect for America's traditions. This is a man who is categorically unfit to sit behind The Oval Office desk.

     For 35 minutes, Trump stood behind a podium microphone and took it upon himself to take advantage of an enormous crowd totaling about 40-thousand people...24-thousand of which are future voters - some of whom will be 18 years of age before the 2020 election...some who already are - and to re-litigate his electoral vote win over Hillary Clinton.  In unacceptable and unfair fashion, Trump bashed the former Secretary of State.  He lambasted former President Barack Obama.  And he blasted the press...criticizing them - as he usually does - as "the fake media."  Plus, Trump trashed Members of Congress...and he even threatened and/or chastised two Secretaries in his own Cabinet.

     With a reckless and brash tone, Trump treated his appearance at the Jamboree as if it was a campaign rally.  In addition to the Scouts, another 16-thousand adults were on hand to hear Trump speak.  He spouted out that Washington, DC is nothing more than a "cesspool, or perhaps (a) sewer"...and that "it's not a good place" because it's packed with "politicians."  For the President to excoriate our nation's capital...and the people who sit in Congress...was totally inappropriate behavior at the Boy Scout Jamboree.  

     Boy Scouts are taught to be loyal.  It's part of the Scout Law.  But Donald Trump has proved to lack loyalty towards just about everybody in his Administration and from his campaign for President.  Scouts are also taught to be trustworthy and reverent.  But we know Trump does not practice those worthy words either.

     Friendship and brotherhood were what I wanted Donald Trump to have had on his mind when talking to the Boy Scouts.  Unfortunately, his toxic tongue spewed venom and hate.

     Boy Scouts across America have condemned Trump's bizarre speech as an embarrassing exhibition.  It was a disgusting display of wretched rhetoric that had no business being at this annual festivity for the Boy Scouts.

     Trump began his remarks with the words..."Who the hell wants to speak about politics when I'm in front of the Boy Scouts?"  But the liar that he is...Trump did very little...other than talk politics...and - while doing so - he metaphorically rammed razor-sharp knives in to the hearts of his political foes.

     What should have been a wonderfully pleasant experience for some of America's first-rate kids...undoubtedly became an offensive demonstration of dictatorial demeanor.

     The Scouts who attended the 2017 Jamboree deserved better than Donald Trump.  But then...so do all Americans.  Filmmaker Michael Moore tweeted that Trump's speech was a "shocking abuse of children."

     Through eight years of my childhood, I was proud to be a Cub Scout and a Boy Scout...and although I never had the chance to go to a Jamboree, I have extremely fond memories of my Camporees...camp-outs...fishing and boating adventures...and other activities with my troops.  So it sickens me to have witnessed Donald Trump's speech to those Scouts at this year's Jamboree.  This is a man who is a nauseating pain in my belly. 

     On Thursday, July 27th, the Boy Scouts of America apologized for Trump's un-presidential actions.  Chief Scout Executive Michael Surbaugh stated..."For years, people have called upon us to take a position on political issues, and we have steadfastly remained nonpartisan and refused to comment on political matters.  We sincerely regret that politics were inserted into the Scouting program."  Surbaugh declared..."That was never our intent."

     The Boy Scout Motto is "Be Prepared."  That's my advice to all Democrats for the November 2018 and November 2020 elections.  We need to "be prepared" with candidates who can overtake the Republicans in both the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives...and we further must "be prepared" with a Democratic presidential nominee who can win The White House.

     Donald Trump's narcissism soared to unbelievable heights when - at a Youngstown, Ohio rally on Tuesday, July 25th - he ranked himself as the second most presidential leader in American history.  "With the exception of the late, great Abraham Lincoln, I can be more presidential than any President that's ever held this office."  Trump failed miserably to meet that high standard at the Boy Scout Jamboree.  And I can assure you that very few Americans will agree with Donald Trump's egotistical statement.

     Our 16th President was known as "Honest Abe."  There's no way anybody is ever going to nickname Trump..."Honest Donald."

DONALD TRUMP DOES NOT DESERVE THE HONOR OF A "DWARF" NAME

     The photo and words on the graphic accompanying this column were posted - Tuesday night, July 18th, 2017 - on Twitter.  It sparked an emotion in my heart, which ignited the rest of me to communicate my thoughts in this forum.

     I find the question being asked..."If Donald Trump was the 8th dwarf what would his name be?"...insulting.  Not to Donald Trump, but to "The Seven Dwarfs."


     The original Brothers Grimm fairy tale - Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs - which was later brought to the silver screen in 1937 through the brilliance and genius of motion picture animation pioneer Walt Disney - is a classic story that features those seven whimsical and beloved characters. Therefore, for Donald Trump to be given even a smidgen of comparison to Doc, Bashful, Sleepy, Sneezy, Happy, Dopey and Grumpy is to degrade these cherished creations from children's literature and cinematic history.

     To honor and salute Donald Trump with a name...if he was the "8th dwarf"... would demean seven treasured "little people" who have put smiles on perhaps hundreds of millions of readers and moviegoers for nearly 80 years.  Yes, Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs - whether read from a book or watched in a theatre or on television - is fiction.  But it is a fantasy that becomes real...every time the story is told...when moms and dads tuck their own tiny tots in to bed...or when the film comes to life for wide-eyed boys and girls of all ages.

     Oh I realize that the organization that published the aforementioned graphic did so as a slap in the face to Trump and in a deprecatory fashion.  After all, they tweet under the handle @StopTrump2020.  And under other circumstances, I would welcome any form of disapproval towards Donald Trump.  But making Trump "a Dwarf" is offensive to those rosy-cheeked, lovable little imps.

     Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs was the world's first, full-length cel animated feature film...and Walt Disney's earliest animated feature.  According to Box Office Mojo, of all movies produced throughout American history - when adjusted for inflation - Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs ranks 10th on the list of the highest grossing motion pictures.  The American Film Institute awards this Disney musical masterpiece with the title "Greatest Animated Film Of All Time" on its list of 100 Greatest Films.

     Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs has significantly impacted the culture of our country and of our planet...and has brought happiness to children around the globe.

     About "The Seven Dwarfs," Walt Disney wrote..."In them we could instill boundless humor, not only as to their physical appearances, but in their mannerisms, personalities, voices and actions."  

     Donald Trump's physical appearance - namely his hair...his defining body language and hand gestures...and his key speech habits - including his frequent use of dramatic vocabulary with such phrases as "absolute and total catastrophe" and "one disaster after another"...his constant "I know it," "you know it," "they know it" and "everybody knows it"...his repetitive lines like "many, many, many, many" and "believe me, believe me"...are all forms of humor...so some of you may say.  I, of course, am not on that bandwagon.  Trump is not in any way funny.  His actions are embarrassing and dangerous to the United States of America.

     To describe Donald Trump as...or to share him with..."The Seven Dwarfs"... is - even in jest - not amusing.

TRUMP'S VENGEFUL VENDETTA AGAINST PRESIDENT OBAMA: "LET 'OBAMACARE' FAIL"

     In Donald Trump's sick mind, the repeal of the Affordable Care Act would be another way he could validate his 2016 election against Hillary Clinton.  With his narcissistic personality disorder, Trump could show - at least in his own mind - that Americans truly wanted him to be President.  After all, Trump refuses to accept that the former Secretary of State won the popular vote by about three-million and, therefore, he feels it is necessary to do whatever he can to bulldoze anything to do with Mrs. Clinton...with former President Barack Obama...or with anything that - again in his mind - stinks of the Democrats.  Accordingly...President Obama and the Affordable Care Act remind Trump of Secretary Clinton and the Democratic Party...and, as such, Trump needs to prove that he is better than Hillary Clinton, which he is not...and that he is the one and only winner.

     Trump recently signed an executive order to establish the Presidential Advisory Commission on Election Integrity...as he continues to talk about widespread voter fraud.  But there is absolutely no evidence whatsoever of such a crime.  The chairman of the "advisory" panel is Mike Pence...Trump's vice presidential puppet who, as a Catholic, should go to confession for sinfully participating in such a bogus voter commission.  As for its co-chairman, Kris Kobach...he is completely off the wall. In an interview on MSNBC - on Wednesday, July 19th, 2017 - Kobach implied that Hillary Clinton's victory in the popular vote was the result of illegal activity. NBC News correspondent Katy Tur asked..."Do you believe Hillary Clinton won the popular vote by 3-to-5-million votes because of voter fraud?"  Kobach replied..."We will probably never know the answer to that question.  Because even if you could prove that a certain number of votes were cast by ineligible voters, for example, you wouldn't know how they voted."

     Democrats - and most of the rest of the country today - would be thrilled if the commission discovers that Trump didn't win a combined 78-thousand votes, which handed him Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.  Where would our country go from there if that is determined to be true?  If those three states had wound up in Mrs. Clinton's column, she would have won those electoral votes...and, therefore...the presidency.

     Donald Trump's loathing of Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and all things Democrat is a danger to our nation.  And Trump's abhorrence is evident by his heartless desire to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act.  An analysis by the Congressional Budget Office - released on July 19th - says that the U.S. Senate's new healthcare bill would leave 32-million more Americans uninsured by 2026 than under current law. Thankfully seven Republican senators will not jump on Trump's bandwagon.  Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia, Susan Collins of Maine, Mike Lee of Utah, Jerry Moran of Kansas, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Rand Paul of Kentucky and Rob Portman of Ohio have all announced opposition to the Senate bill.  With 48 Democrats voting against it, there are 55 senators of the 100 who will not say "yea."  Therefore, the measure will not pass.  That is, as long as at least three of those Republicans don't change their minds when the vote eventually hits the Senate floor.

     Donald Trump is a vengeful snake oil salesman with a vendetta.  He obviously wants to bury the Affordable Care Act out of hate towards President Obama and the Democrats.  Trump and most Republicans in Congress don't give a damn that the vast majority of Americans do not want the Affordable Care Act repealed and replaced.  There are improvements that need to be made...and one day... hopefully...Democrats and Republicans together can make them happen.  But for now, it would be criminal to repeal and replace a law that provides health insurance to more Americans than ever before.  In addition, every major medical organization and advocacy group in the United States are opposed to the GOP's Senate healthcare measure, as they also did not support the House of Representatives bill. They include the American Medical Association, the American Hospital Association, the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the National Association of Medicaid Directors, the American Association of Retired Persons, the American Diabetes Association, the American Heart Association, the American Lung Association and the American Cancer Society Action Network, among many others.

     The fact that the Affordable Care Act is known as "Obamacare" is part of the problem.  Donald Trump - and some Republicans in the House and Senate - simply want to attack and ruin part of Barack Obama's legacy.  And a law with his name attached to it - even informally - is Trump's evil and vicious motive to destroy it.  On Tuesday, July 18th, Trump declared that he is out to "let Obamacare fail."  And by killing the 44th President's signature piece of legislation, Donald Trump and the GOP don't care...if, by doing so...it kills millions of people.

TRUMP, TRUMP AND KUSHNER: LIARS, INC.

     So here's the bottom line.  Donald Trump has been adamant - since day one of his presidency - that there was no collusion by the Trump campaign to help Russia interfere with our 2016 national election.  We know now...that is absolutely not true.

     Tens of millions of Americans have suspected all along that certain members of the Trump campaign - and possibly...if not more than likely, Donald Trump himself - had meddled with the election...and did so through joint coordination with Russian President Vladimir Putin and/or others at the Kremlin in Moscow.

     Unless you've been hibernating in an underground cavern with no access to television, radio or the Internet, you are already aware that a report by The New York Times - on Saturday, July 8th, 2017 - revealed that Donald Trump, Jr. had met on June 9th, 2016 with a Russian lawyer who allegedly had information that could help Trump, Sr. in his efforts to win the presidency, five months later on November 8th.  On Sunday, July 9th, 2017...Trump, Jr. acknowledged that the newspaper's article was indeed correct...and that he - along with Jared Kushner and then-campaign chairman, Paul Manafort - attended such a conference.

     Donald Trump - on Thursday, July 13th, 2017 - called his son, Don "a good boy. He's a good kid."  But Donald Trump, Jr. is not a kid.  Even a 6-year old child knows not to lie.  However - as the saying goes - "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree." After all..."Daddy Donald" is a chronic liar so "Junior" has been taught from a guy who tells falsehoods practically every single day.  But lies can come back to bite a person in the butt.  And as I tweeted on Tuesday, July 11th..."The Liar-In-Chief, Jr. will ultimately take down the Liar-In-Chief and bury his presidency."  That being said... Trump, Jr.'s story changed over the course of several days, as he first described his meeting with attorney Natalia Veselnitskaya as a conversation about the adoption of Russian children...and that no campaign issues were discussed.

     According to The New York Times...Trump, Jr. agreed to meet with the Russian lawyer after he was informed that she could provide Trump's oldest son with damaging information that would be destructive to Hillary Clinton's campaign and would, therefore, sink her chances at becoming our nation's 45th president.  But in an exclusive interview with NBC News correspondent Keir Simmons, Veselnitskaya stated the meeting was to discuss sanctions between the United States and Russia. She said, "I never had any damaging or sensitive information about Hillary Clinton.  It was never my intention to have that."  That, of course, contradicts Donald Trump, Jr. who confirmed - on Monday, July 10th - that he had, in fact, been offered dirt on the former Secretary of State...although he insisted the meeting failed to produce any such unfavorable information.  Nevertheless, The New York Times - on that same Monday - reported that Trump, Jr. was advised in an e-mail on June 3rd, 2016 that the Russian attorney could furnish him with details on how her government could aid Trump, Sr. in his race for The White House.  Yet now...Trump, Jr. is merely saying that all he expected was "opposition research."  And the lies continue.

     The next day - July 11th - Donald Trump, Jr. tweeted a string of e-mails, which definitely proves - in black and white - that The New York Times story was accurate.  The e-mail chain provides a solid link between Trump, Jr. and Russia.  And that it was Trump Family friend and entertainment publicist, Rob Goldstone who e-mailed the younger Trump on June 3rd, 2016 and who wrote that Veselnitskaya had "information that would incriminate Hillary and her dealings with Russia, and would be very useful to your father."  Goldstone's e-mail continued with, "This is obviously very high level and sensitive information, but is part of Russia and its government's support for Mr. Trump."  Donald Trump, Jr.'s written response..."If it's what you say, I love it, especially later in the summer."  Naturally that's when undecided voters would be getting geared up and more motivated for the upcoming election.  But Veselnitskaya categorically denied to NBC News any connection to the Kremlin.  And Russian officials claim they were not familiar with her prior to the breaking news story.  As for Goldstone...The Washington Post reported that he was involved with the Miss Universe Pageant, which Donald Trump had previously owned.  Reportedly, Goldstone first became acquainted with Trump, Sr. when The Trump Organization had hopes of doing business in Russia.  Goldstone has ties with a Russian pop music artist.  That star performer is the son of a wealthy Russian real estate magnate who apparently is close friends with Vladimir Putin.  Thus, the Kremlin connection continues.

     Donald Trump, Jr. says his dad knew nothing about the e-mails or the subsequent meeting with the Russian attorney.  Therefore, he and Trump, Sr. want me to believe - as well as the rest of our country - that the Trump patriarch had no knowledge of that meeting, which happened to be held at Trump Tower in New York City, one floor below Trump, Sr.'s office.  If you think that Trump, Jr. didn't tell his father about the meeting - either sometime before or immediately after it - then you believe that monkeys can fly.

     Donald Trump, Jr. says his reason for posting the e-mails on Twitter was "to be totally transparent."  But The New York Times says Trump, Jr. released the e-mails after word came his way that the newspaper would be publishing an article about them.  Meanwhile, Donald Trump has defended his son by praising him as "a high-quality person" who is "open, transparent and innocent."  Did anybody really expect Trump, Sr. to publicly chastise Trump, Jr.?  Even though that is what he is probably doing in private.

     As the big bully and coward that Donald Trump is...he - on July 13th - felt it was necessary to once again attack someone from former President Barack Obama's Administration.  Trump pointed the finger of blame at former Attorney General Loretta Lynch for being the person - so Trump "heard" - to approve the Russian lawyer's visa to enter our country.  Trump has - time and time again - refused to accept responsibility for himself or for anyone in his inner circle when a wrong has been committed.

     Donald Trump, Jr.'s e-mails are clear-cut evidence that the son of the President of the United States attempted - during his father's campaign - to collude with Russia in order to meddle with America's presidential election.  And whether or not information was actually provided to Trump, Jr. that would be detrimental to Hillary Clinton's campaign, there is no doubt that Trump, Jr. was eagerly willing to collude with a foreign adversary.  Furthermore...by his recent lies, Trump, Jr. has demonstrated a willingness to cover up actions that are allegedly corrupt.

     Can any of Donald Trump, Jr.'s activities be considered espionage...or against the law in any other way?  According to several legal experts, if there is evidence of solicitation, then there is a violation of federal election statutes.  "Value" is apparently the key.  And value does not have to mean money.  Negative information about Hillary Clinton would have been valuable to Donald Trump.  Therefore, as long as there was an attempt by the Trump campaign to obtain information from the Russian lawyer, which Trump, Jr. had presumed would hurt Secretary Clinton as she challenged Trump, Sr. in the presidential election and which Trump, Jr.'s e-mails admit...then - according to many attorneys who have broadcast their views on numerous television news programs - the law had been broken.  The crime is the attempt...despite the result...whether it was beneficial to Donald Trump or not.

     Let us not forget Jared Kushner in this conspiracy.  A senior adviser to the President and the husband of Donald Trump's oldest daughter, Ivanka Trump... Kushner was invited by his brother-in-law, Donald Trump, Jr. to attend the meeting with the Russian attorney.  But after Trump was elected President and Kushner was appointed to the official White House team with national security clearance, he was required to sign a disclosure form that would identify the names of people connected to any foreign nations.  The following is the certification that Kushner signed to get his security clearance.  "I understand that a knowing and willful false statement on this form can be punished by fine or imprisonment or both.  I understand that intentionally withholding, misrepresenting, or falsifying information may have a negative effect on my security clearance, employment prospects, or job status, up to and including denial or revocation of my security clearance, or my removal and debarment from Federal service."

     Jared Kushner did not disclose his meeting with Donald Trump, Jr., Paul Manafort and Natalia Veselnitskaya.  Neither Trump, Jr. or Manafort are part of the Trump Administration.  However, since Kushner is a top-level member of the White House senior staff, his lack of trust and his ties to Russia should cause - as some Members of Congress and others nationwide have expressed - the immediate removal of Kushner's security clearance.  Remember...he lied on his disclosure form.

     The New York Times - on July 13th - reported that Kushner has three times amended his list of foreign contacts on his disclosure form...updating it with an additional one-hundred or more names.  Proof - that like his father-in-law and brother-in-law - Jared Kushner is a liar.  But losing his national security clearance is unlikely because according to a report by the Congressional Research Service, the President of the United States - as Commander-In-Chief - has "authority to establish the standards for access to classified national security information."  In other words...when push comes to shove...it's ultimately up to Donald Trump whether Jared Kushner's security clearance is ever revoked.  And the odds of that ever happening is probably slim to none.

     It is my opinion, however, that Kushner should not have any White House credentials.  He should be fired.  Let's face it...at this point a non-Trump relative would have been shown the door and banned from 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.  Jared Kushner should be tossed out the same way.  But we all know that's never going to become a reality.

     So will Donald Trump, Jr. be indicted for any criminal wrongdoing?  Will he be convicted and sentenced to prison?  Nobody knows.  But if the answers to those questions are yes, would Donald Trump then pardon him?  The answer, of course, would also be yes.

     Will a judge and jury someday take away Jared Kushner's freedoms and put him behind bars?  Nobody knows.  But we do know that Donald Trump would obviously pardon him too.

     And then there's this question.  Will Donald Trump ever be impeached by the U.S. House of Representatives...convicted by the U.S. Senate...and removed from office? Again, nobody knows that for sure either.  But if so, would Mike Pence then pardon him?  More than likely...yes.  However...I've always said that Trump would pull a Richard Nixon and resign the presidency before he would ever suffer through any impeachment hearings.

     But even if everybody is safe from indictments or impeachment, Donald Trump and the Trump Administration will remain tainted forever.

     To quote a July 9th tweet by Oscar nominated motion picture producer, Golden Globe nominated film director and Emmy winning television actor Rob Reiner... "Coordination, collusion, treason.  Whatever you want to call it, the gun just started to smoke.  #LockThemUp"

     For me...I can't wait until Donald Trump, Jr. and Jared Kushner testify before Congress.  My eyes and ears will be glued to my TV.

FREEDOM TO LIVE AS AMERICANS

     It's July 4th, 2017. Independence Day.  Happy Birthday to the United States of America and to all Americans on this our 241st birthday, as we celebrate our freedom.

     Our Declaration of Independence is crystal clear. "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men (all people) are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness."

     We are a nation that represents freedom.  Freedom of speech...freedom of the press...freedom of religion...freedom to believe as we so choose and as we so desire. Whether the color of our skin is white, black, brown, yellow or red...whether we are male or female...whether we pray as Christians, Jews, Muslims, any other faith or don't pray at all...whether we are straight, bisexual, gay or transgender...whether we are Democrats, Republicans or Independents...no matter who we are in this great country...we should all have the same freedoms.  We should all have the freedom to live as Americans.

     Yes, we should.  Let's do what we can to make sure that we all do.

     And that's The Controversy for today.
